about kate

In 2009 I was working for an insurance broker when I decided to go back to school and get my Masters Degree in education.

I graduated in 2013 and worked for a few years teaching eighth grade Computer Science at a local middle school then in 2016 I was hired as an elementary computer technology teacher.

I was a specials" "teacher it was my very first full time teaching assignment and I had to create my own curriculm. I had no idea what they wanted me to teach elementary students.

I had previously taught coding to my 8th grade students using the Code.org website so I decided to use their curriculum to teach coding to my K-3rd grade eventually 5th grade students.

My only issue I was not a computer science major so I had no idea what or how to teach what I was teaching. It was years of trial and error in the classroom before I perfected my K-5th grade computer science curriculum.

I would LOVE to save you 5 years of Struggle

The first few years of teaching were REALLY difficult and behavior was a challenge

I was on the STRUGGLE BUS! I had a solid curriculum and I was trying to teach it to my students and I was FAILING!

I even did a live full day Code.org training. I highly recommend it, it was a great PD it was fun and it helped a little. In the PD they taught you how to teach their lessons they really didn't focus on teaching us the fundamentals.

THE GAME CHANGER

The day it all clicked was a game changer ...

...after years of struggle it finally ALL made senses and it was so much simpler then I have been making it! I can do the same for you in just a few short weeks you too can be teaching your students to code with confidence. Even if you have never coded a day in your life like me.

what we do

I help elementary teachers build the foundation of computer science so that they have the clarity needed to teach coding even if coding isn’t their calling.
